Introduction
Welcome to the TORP website.
The Open Robot Project (TORP) aims to allow the building of a open-source collaborative self-contained human-size robots family.
- Open source because all schematics (mechanical and electrical) and programs necessary to build the robots will be freely available for download (by the end of 2012);
- Collaborative because TORP methodology allows the building of robots parts in completely different institutions with completely different technologies, and new modules can be uploaded to the project;
- Self-contained because in TORP robots focus is shifted from robot parts to robot modules, with embedded mechanical, electronics and software;
- Human-size because the specification set allow the building of human-size robots.
Some robot using this methodology are currently under development in some different universities in Brazil.
In this website you will find the basic specification set that make this family possible (the TORP specification set), as well as projects details of some of robots built based on this methodology.
If this website was useful for you or your team, please let us know.
The full drawings of robots will be available until the end of 2012.
